As of 27/07/2021, all energy contracts, aside from basic energy supply for domestic customers, must be concluded in writing. Concluding contracts on the phone is not longer possible. Originally intended to be part of the German Fair Consumer Contracts Act, this new provision was incorporated into German energy law, and has now come into force in accordance with Section 41(b) paragraph 1 point 1 of the Germany Energy Industry Act (EnWG) as part of the EnWG revisions.
